There are clear links between these two topics, especially through debates about anti-social behaviour and responses to youth crime. A number of Wales-wide research projects have recently been conducted collaboratively by members of the network, including an evaluation of the Safer Communities Fund, a study of the work of community safety officers, and an evaluation of an innovative scheme for young offenders. There are concrete plans to develop this work further. Further research is needed on the links and tensions between youth justice (at present not devolved) and the distinctive WAG policies around children and young people. Research on community safety will explore issues around neighbourhood policing, inter-agency partnership work, and community engagement, as well as their links with community regeneration. Such work will be approached through collaboration with UPSI.
